Troutman races into 55th World 100; earns Rookie Award at Eldora Speedway
Starting off the crown jewel weekend with twin $12,000-to-win preliminary nights, Drake Troutman and the G.R. Smith Motorsports team joined a field of over 100 Super Late Models at Eldora Speedway (Rossburg, Ohio) for the 55th-running of the World 100.
On opening night, Troutman started 15th in the second 25-lap, $12,000-to-win preliminary feature and moved forward to land inside the Top-10 in ninth. Drake recorded another ninth-place outing in Friday's prelim after starting sixth.
Slated for the second-row of a heat race on Saturday, Troutman snuck his way into the $72,000-to-win finale after he picked up the final transfer spot in his heat race. Drake started 13th in the 100-lap main event and finished 18th.
His efforts earned him a $3,000 payday for the Shane Ungar Memorial Rookie Award.
