Drake Troutman competes in Gateway Dirt Nationals; fourth-place outing in Modified prelim

Drake Troutman took part in the Modified portion of the Gateway Dirt Nationals, unloading the Jerry Foster-owned No. 5 machine for his preliminary night at The Dome at America's Center (St. Louis, Mo.) on Thursday afternoon.

Laying down the second-fastest lap in his qualifying group, Troutman went on to pick up a heat race victory and start on the front-row of the 20-lap preliminary feature. Drake finished just off the podium in fourth behind Ricky Thornton Jr., Carlos Ahumada Jr., and Michael Long.

Leading flag-to-flag in his qualifier on Saturday, Drake ran inside the Top-10 during the finale before mechanical issues plagued his run. He was scored 15th.
