Troutman eighth in Wild West Shootout opener at Central Arizona Raceway
Drake Troutman started off his 2026 season out in the desert with the G.R. Smith Motorsports team and competed in the 20th-annual Wild West Shootout at Central Arizona Raceway (Case Grande, Ariz.) before heading to the Tulsa Expo Center.
With 46 Super Late Models on the grounds, Troutman finished third in his heat race before making up two spots in the 50-lap opener to finish eighth. On Sunday, Drake started sixth in the $10,000-to-win show and was running inside the Top-5 before a mechanical failure relegated him to a 19th-place finish.
Drake will now turn his attention to the Chili Bowl as he is slated to compete in the Tuesday preliminary night before heading back to Arizona.
