Troutman records trio of Top-10s at Ocala Speedway; runner-up finish in Winter Nationals feature
Kicking off the longest stretch of Speedweeks, Drake Troutman unloaded the Team 22 Inc. machine at Ocala (Fla.) Speedway on Tuesday afternoon for the first night of competition with the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series.
After a forgettable 12th-place finish in Tuesday's opener, Troutman found some speed in Wednesday's main event as he charged from his ninth-starting spot to land on the podium. Drake finished runner-up to Jonathan Davenport while Ricky Thornton Jr. completed the podium in the $7,000-to-win feature.
Troutman dealt with some misfortune on Thursday evening before recording a pair of strong runs to close out the weekend. Starting 13th in Friday's feature event, Drake once again stormed forward and landed inside the Top-10 in seventh.
For Saturday's $25,000-to-win finale, Drake put down his best qualifying effort of the week and grabbed a heat race victory. Troutman recorded a Top-10 finish in the 50-lap finale with a seventh-place outing.
