Troutman scores fifth-place finish in Alabama Gang 100 prelim

With Thursday’s stop at Thunderhill Raceway Park (Summertown, Tenn.) postponed, Drake Troutman returned with the World of Outlaws Case Late Model Series on Friday for the two-day Alabama Gang 100 at Talladega Short Track (Eastaboga, Ala.).

Joining 47 entries for a pair of preliminary features, Troutman raced into his prelim with the seventh-fastest time in his 24-car group. With a $5,000 payday up for grabs, Drake climbed two positions in the 25-lap affair to register a fifth-place finish. He chased Dylan Knowles, Brandon Overton, Trey Mills, and Chris Madden across the line.

Drake’s weekend drew to an early on Saturday after fuel pressure issues forced him to retire on the second lap of his heat race while running third. He was a scratch from his B-Main.
