Troutman records sixth-place finish in DIRTcar Nationals prelim at Volusia
Tuesday saw Drake Troutman return to action at Volusia Speedway Park (De Leon Springs, Fla.) for the second round of the 53rd annual DIRTcar Nationals.
After Monday’s program was rained out midway through the program, Troutman raced into Tuesday’s preliminary with a consolation victory. Starting in 21st, Drake was credited with a 21st-place outing after pulling off on lap 18.
With the 48-car field split into three groups on Wednesday, Drake followed up the seventh-fastest time in his qualifying group with a sixth-place finish in his 20-lap preliminary feature.
For Monday’s rainout that was also ran on Wednesday, Troutman was an early retiree on lap 14.
Drake’s Thursday night came to an early end with a ninth-place exit in his B-Main.
On Friday, Troutman was a scratch from his consolation event after retiring on the seventh circuit of his heat.
The 53rd annual Federated DIRTcar Nationals finale on Saturday fell to wet weather.
