Troutman returns to East Bay in Late Model for Wrisco Winternationals

On Monday afternoon, Drake Troutman was back in action at East Bay Raceway Park (Tampa, Fla.) but this time in the Late Model ranks for the 45th annual Wrisco Winternationals. Drawing 76 Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series (LOLMDS) entries, Drake laid down the 11th fastest lap in his time trial group before fading back to a ninth place finish in his heat. Needing a second place finish or better in his B-Main to make the main event, Troutman was an early retiree from the 12-lapper on the second lap. (Heath Lawson photo)

The following night for another $5,000-to-win preliminary feature, Troutman logged an 11th place finish in his heat, transferring him into the B-Main. Locking in the Top 2, Drake pulled off early on the third lap.

After taking Wednesday and Thursday off, Troutman returned to action at North Florida Speedway (Lake City, Fla.) on Thursday evening competing in his Modified for the UMP Winternationals. In a field of 17 DIRTcar UMP Modifieds, Troutman secured his spot into the opening night feature with an eight-lap heat race victory. With $1,000 on the line, Drake suffered a broken transmission on the opening lap that brought an immediate end to his night.

On Saturday afternoon, Drake followed up the fifth fastest lap in a field of 24 cars with a heat race win. Starting the $1,200-to-win A-Main in third, Troutman faded one spot in the 25-lap affair to register a fourth-place finish, trailing Allen Weisser, Lucas Lee, and Clay Harris across the line with Brad DeYoung coming in fifth.

Sunday night’s $1,500-to-win finale fell victim to Mother Nature.
